Global Warming Awareness Camps

Global warming is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of Earth’s climate system. Since 1971, 90% of the increased energy has been stored in the oceans, mostly in the 0 to 700m region. Despite the oceans’ dominant role in energy storage, the term “global warming” is also used to refer to increases in average temperature of the air and sea at Earth’s surface.

The effects of global warming are the environmental and social changes caused by human emissions of greenhouse gases. There is a scientific consensus that climate change is occurring, and that human activities are the primary driver. Evidence of climate change includes the instrumental temperature record, rising sea levels, and decreased snow cover. This is information that needs to be conveyed to the villagers who can do their part to prevent this problem.

MES has stepped in here to become a link between the national and international efforts being taken to curb global warming and the potentially ignorant villagers who are unaware of their duties to the environment. In the awareness camps, the society ensures that the villagers are made aware of the effects of their actions as well as their responsibilities to the surroundings.
